It definitely sounds like he needs puppy classes. Doxies can be pretty stubborn when it comes to training, but they are also incredibly smart. Try to get both the pug and the Doxie in a class together. It could help with the behavior and also help the two pups to bond. Good luck! Doxies are the best!!!

One thing to remember about dachshunds is that they are very independent minded dogs. Meaning, of course, that they are not going to be particularly obedient. It’s not that they aren’t smart or can’t learn. It’s just that every time you give them a command, they stop to decide if the consequences are worth disobeying *laughs*. So they’ll never be obedient like one of the working dog classes would be.
That being said, I would definitely take your dachshund to an obedience class. The more you work with them, the more likely it is that they are going to obey most of the time.
The other issue with dachshunds, is that they always think they are the alpha dog. You need to convince this dog that you are *always* the alpha. That’s part of what you’ll learn in obedience class. Not just how to train the dog, but how to train yourself as well.

okay we have a mini dachshund too. What we did:
We got him a crate, one just big enough for him to get in and turn around in. We put him in that while we are gone away to school or work. As soon as we get home we get him and put him straight outside. You will have to leave him out there for a little bit. Then when he comes in he gets a treat, this go always when we go to bed. And he doesn’t get fed about 7 pm. All water and foot get put up. This helps a lot. We have 9 dogs most outside but the ones in side are house broke and this is how we did it. Also if the pup won’t sleep through the night, put a blanket over the crate door. But a big plus, wear an old shirt or sleep with something that the pup can have this will help with the loneliness.

you and your dog need training classes. They will help alot. Crate traininf for the peeing and i would read the book “ceasers way” its a good book about dog psychology and really lets you understand how to go about training your dog so he will understand you. But start now the sooner the better.

Sit Stay Fetch, Good Dog!
It needs more training. Please don’t bring your pup outside off leash. You are asking for trouble. If you get him on a schedule he will improve. Puppy classes are ALWAYS a great idea. Because of the fighting with the other dog, it is most likely a dominance issue. Pups will pee and poo to show domince. If you put him in the cage because he was being bad it wiil turn him off of the cage. Research training on internet and read more than one site.
He is trainable but it takes work

Start a Doggie Daycare
Dogs do not pee and poop “to show dominance” – they pee and poop because you have not trained them to go potty in the right places.
1. You must put your dog on a leash when you take him outside. You are risking the life of your dog and the lives of other people when you let your dog run around. Your dog will run in to the road and cause a car accident. Do you want to be responsible for that?
2. Please take a training class. Petsmart training classes cover all of the topics that you mention. Doggy school is a perfect solution for you.
